HOUGHTON, MI – Friday, September 19, 2025 – Michigan Tech Enterprise Corporation (MTEC) SmartZone is pleased to announce Allison Szlachta as its new Marketing Manager. Allison has a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Michigan Technological University, as well as over three years’ experience in various marketing roles. Her expertise expands across a variety of sectors, including higher education, non-profit organizations, the cabinetry industry, and food manufacturing.
Born and raised in the Metro-Detroit area, Allison fell in love with the Upper Peninsula upon moving to Houghton to earn her degree. She sees this position as an opportunity to use her skills to enhance the local community’s economy and provide support to local business owners and start-ups. “The Houghton-Hancock area has so much to offer outside of its natural beauty” notes Allison. “The people here possess a drive like no other to creative innovations solutions, and I want to provide this area the ability to take their solutions further.”
Allison joins the team after working at one of Michigan Tech’s esteemed research departments for over three years, The Center for Technology & Training (CTT). During her time there, she honed her skills in digital marketing, social media management, asset creation, technical writing, and data analysis. “Allison’s exceptional drive and expertise in digital space make her an invaluable asset to our team,” said Jason Mack, VP of Business Development for MTEC SmartZone. “Her diverse skill set coupled with hands-on experience align with our commitment to promoting innovation and growth within this community.”
Her dedication to fostering growth and support is evident through her past community involvements, which include her leadership as President of the Women’s Volleyball Club at Michigan Tech and her experience working for Copper Shores Community Health Foundation. “I am genuinely excited to have the opportunity to assist the local community and provide opportunities for both local businesses and MTEC’s clients,” says Allison.
