The Going PRO Talent Fund is designed to help employers train, develop, and retain current and newly hired employees. In order for training to be effective, it should be short-term, address a demonstrated need, and lead to a recognized industry credential. By investing in workforce development, this program not only supports employees in advancing their careers, but also helps employers stay competitive in Michigan’s ever-evolving economy.
How the Application Process Works
The Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity – Workforce Development (LEO-WD) distributes awards through local Michigan Works! Agencies (MWA). Employers should begin by connecting with their local Michigan Works! Center to:
- Assess skill gaps and identify suitable training providers.
- Determine eligibility for Going PRO Talent Fund awards.
- Provide employers with access to the online application system.
It is strongly encouraged to engage with Michigan Works! early to ensure enough time for processing and application review before the deadline.
Employer Responsibilities
Employers play an active role in shaping their training projects. Responsibilities include:
- Signing a contract/training agreement with the MWA.
- Providing cash or in-kind contributions in support of the training.
- Using Pure Michigan Talent Connect and Michigan Works! for job recruitment.
