1 Million Cups: Open Circuit Institute and GeoArchive

July’s 1 Million Cups took place at the Finnish American Heritage Center with coffee provided by Biggby Coffee of Houghton.

Open Circuit Institute is an online community devoted to open source circuit board design, manufacturing, and theory where anyone can join or contribute. The goal of Open Circuit Institute is to provide comprehensive tools to promote and support in-home circuit manufacturing. Watch Shane’s presentation or visit their website to learn more.

Eric Ollis (Lexul) and Terry McNinch (Acus Learning Systems, LLC) came together to create GeoArchive PAVEMENT. It’s a simple tool that any agency can use to create and store a photo archive of pavement conditions. Combined with required maintenance records, GeoArchive PAVEMENT provides the best possible change for agencies to secure relief funding from FEMA successfully. Watch their presentation or read the article in the Daily Mining Gazette to learn more.

Recurring each month, two entrepreneurs are invited to pitch their ideas and receive feedback from the community. Each presenter has 6-7 minutes to pitch, followed by a 15-20 Q&A session. For more information, watch last month’s presentations from Portage Paddle Sports and Real People Media.

SAVE THE DATE- The September 1MC event will be held on September 12th, 9am at the Finnish American Heritage Center. Stay posted for more information!
