Marilyn Clark
CEO
Marilyn Clark is the CEO at MTEC SmartZone. Marilyn is leading MTEC SmartZone in a direction of job creation and economic development.

A graduate of Michigan Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Masters in Business Administration, Marilyn also taught Human Resources at the University. She was also Assistant Professor of Management at Finlandia University. Marilyn served as Operations Manager at Fortune 500 company Cummins Engine. She also consulted with local companies Talon Research, IR Telemetrics and Midwest Loan and was Sales Director for local technology company Consistacom, closing deals upwards of $1 million during her tenure.
Jonathan Leinonen
PROGRAM DIRECTOR
Jonathan Leinonen is the Program Director at MTEC SmartZone. He provides commercialization assistance to startup companies including student and faculty businesses based on technologies from Michigan Technological University and private firms around the Upper Peninsula. Jonathan designed and administers the SmartTrac collaborative program with Michigan Tech and MTEC SmartZone. The student program provides funds to support technical and business feasibility analysis, prototype development, marketing research and business plan development.
He also assists companies with funding programs for MTEC SmartZone including the Michigan Pre Seed Capital Fund and a Strategic Service Providers grant from Michigan Economic Development Corporation and other competitive funding applications. He leads periodic business seminars for businesses including the Kauffman FastTrac® program and teaches Entrepreneurship in Michigan Tech’s School of Business and Economics. Jonathan is an active member and board member of various business and community-based organizations. He has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Administration from Michigan Technological University and a Masters of Business Administration degree from University of Michigan.
